To obtain medical marijuana in Maryland, you must have an MMCC card. It allows you to legally purchase medical-grade marijuana from dispensaries and use it. MMCC stands for the ‘Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission’ and is a government organization that oversees medical marijuana distribution in the state.

This card allows the carrier to legally use marijuana for several medical conditions, including “...cachexia, anorexia, wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or another chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective.”, according to the official MMCC website.

Why Do I Need an MMCC Card?

Recreational marijuana use is still illegal in Maryland and an MMCC card is a legal way to obtain and purchase medical-grade marijuana. Though possession of 10 grams or less has been decriminalized, an MMCC card is still the only sure way to legally use marijuana for medical purposes.

Who Can Prescribe an MMCC card?

  2. Once you are approved, you must visit a provider registered with MMCC, like Outreach Health and Wellness and get valid certification.
